GETTING STARTED

Getting started

Create your first canvas, invite your team and send a review link to clients in a few minutes.

A canvas is the page you collect feedback on. Reviewers click anywhere on it to pin a comment, and every comment stays attached to the spot they clicked.

Create a canvas

  1. In the sidebar, click Create Canvas.
  2. In Website URL, paste the address of the page you want reviewed. If you leave out https://, Notemark adds it for you.
  3. Submit. Notemark names the canvas from the page title, or from the address when the page has no title.

The live site opens inside Notemark, so reviewers comment on the real page rather than a static image. If a site will not load, see Troubleshooting.

Figma canvases

When Figma canvases are switched on for your workspace, the same dialog also accepts a Figma link (https://www.figma.com/...). Connect your Figma account under Settings, Connections first. After you paste the link, choose Prototype flows or Frames, then click Create Figma canvas. Frames linked from the ones you pick are added automatically.

Who can create canvases

Owners, admins and editors can create canvases. Viewers cannot. The Free plan allows 3 active canvases; paid plans have no canvas limit. See Billing and plans.

Invite your team

Teammates join your workspace and see every canvas in it. Adding members needs the Team plan; the Free and Solo plans have one member.

During sign-up

The last setup step is Invite your team. Enter up to 5 email addresses, pick Editor or Viewer for each and click Send Invites. If an address cannot be invited, it stays in the form with the reason, for example when that person is already a member or already has an invite. Fix it and send again, or click Skip for now.

A new workspace starts on the Free plan, and a paid plan you picked on the pricing page starts at checkout after this step. So if you are setting up a team, skip this step, finish checkout for the Team plan, then invite from Settings.

From settings

  1. Open your workspace Settings and choose Members.
  2. Click Invite Member, enter their email and pick Editor or Viewer.
  3. They get an email with a link that is valid for 7 days. They accept by signing in with the invited email address.

Only owners and admins can invite. To make someone an admin, the owner opens their row and uses Edit permissions after they join. The Team plan includes 3 members, and each extra member adds a seat to your bill.

Clients and other reviewers do not need an account.

  1. Open the canvas and click Share.
  2. Click Copy Link and send it.

Anyone with the link can open the canvas. The first time they leave a comment, Notemark asks for their name and email so you know who wrote it. Their name and email are remembered on that browser, so they are not asked again on that canvas.

You can add a password, an expiry date and a welcome note to the link. See Sharing and permissions.
